Taxes Done? Check! Cocktails? Check!

Posted on April 14th, 2011

Nudge, nudge. “Tax Day” approaches. It’s scary, it’s definite and it’s a fact of life. The good news? In a rare moment of bureaucracy working FOR the people, official give-your-money-to-the-government day hits our pocketbooks on April 18 instead of the usual—April 15.

Will some of us still wait until the last minute? Yes. Will some of us wait until beyond last-minute? Yes.

If you’re one of those, at least file an extension, says Chicago-area accountant (CPA), Alan Russo. “File the extension form even if you don’t know what you owe,” says Russo. “Estimate it and by filing that one form, you eliminate the late filing penalty. “That means you save money despite your tardiness.”

Same applies when it comes to “Tax Day” cocktails at Riva Crabhouse on Navy Pier and Tuscany Cafe—available all day on both April 15 AND April 18!
